1.  Does XSpam work for individual e-mail accounts?
As long as you own your own domain name XSpam can work for you.  XSpam currently doesn’t support addresses that are provided by larger ISPs (i.e. earthlink.net, aol.com, MSN.com, Yahoo.com, etc.).  For example if you subscribe to AOL and your e-mail address is johndoe@aol.com then XSpam is not for you at this point.  Although if you host your domain with Yahoo! hosting, EarthLink, SBC, Verizon, etc. or any other hosting agency XSpam is for you too!

2.  What if we don't have a corporate server?
Having your own domain name doesn’t necessary mean you have your own corporate mail server.  Many companies and domain name owners host their mail servers with an ISP or a local hosting agency.  XSpam will work directly with your hosting agency to get you setup.

3.  How do my e-mails get filtered?
Settings to your domain DNS records allow us to point all mail destined for your domain from around the world to visit our facilities for a few nanoseconds before we jet them off to your domain e-mail server.   The only difference is we hold all the junk and virus laden e-mails you can do without in your personal XSpam quarantine message center.

4.  How does XSpam prevent e-mail viruses?
In a few milliseconds per e-mail XSpam scans your e-mail as it comes through our servers with the latest in mail virus protection offered.  Our servers are updated at least once a day for virus definition updates to keep e-mail clean as it’s delivered to your mailbox.

5.  Do I need any hardware or software to get started?
Sign up with XSpam and leave the hardware and software to us.  We have load balancing servers to handle any amount of e-mails your company receives and the latest technology in servers and networks to ensure maximum uptime.  As for software we use patented “pass-through” technology software that allows us to scan your mail instantly as it whizzes through our hardware and software.

6.  Will I lose any e-mails?
XSpam does one of two things with e-mails destined for you inbox.  Either we deliver it to you or quarantine it in your personal message center where you can browse through messages online for anything that may have been held up at the gates.  With a click of a button you can approve a “caught” piece of mail and deliver it to your inbox never to be caught again in the filter.

7.  How do I view my XSpam quarantined e-mails?
Check your quarantined items by simply going to www.xspam.com and using the member login box on the home page.  Login with your current e-mail address and your e-mail password.

8.  What if I have e-mails from certain users/domains that I always want sent to my Inbox and not quarantined by XSpam?
Approval lists are available at both an organization (company) level and user level.  Let’s say you do business with Boeing.  If you wanted all e-mails originating from boeing.com to never get caught in the filter then you can set boing.com on the organization level approved list.  You can also do this at a user level.  Since approving hotmail.com at a global level will invite any spammer’s e-mails through the filter, users can individually add specific users (e.g. myfriend@hotmail.com).  Keep in mind that XSpam is 96% effective and accurate “right out of the box”

9.  How do I change my password and logins?
Your passwords and logins are not held, changed or managed by XSpam.  Our servers use technology that authenticates you as a user by querying your mail server and authenticating you as a user there.  So if you change your password on your mail server that immediately becomes your password for your XSpam login.

10.  What if I forget my password?
You will need to contact your e-mail administrator to have them reset your password.

11.  Do you offer a client referral program?
For any account referred to us we pay a flat $100 plus ½ the setup fee which usually amounts to about $125.  So expect about $225 cash per referral.  Refer us a client and if you’re an XSpam customer you get an additional month of service for free!

12.  How do I sign up?
Use our brief contact form to send us your contact information and one of our representatives will contact you.  During the actual setup of your account a qualified system engineer will work closely with you as a consultant to get you and your staff completely setup.

13.  How long is my commitment if I sign up?
A one-year commitment is our standard agreement.

14.  What is the difference between XSpam and a Firewall?
XSpam focuses on your company e-mail and threats that arise from e-mail related attacks -- spam, viruses and network attacks.  A firewall is a network device which serves as a controlled barrier that can be configured to manage and control traffic as required.

15.  What is the difference between XSpam and other spam software products?
XSpam is a managed gateway solution.  Servers at a commercial level datacenter provide constant protection by working to prescreen/filter your e-mail before it ever reaches your company mail server.  The solution requires no commitment on hardware or software on your part.  We manage the entire solution for you and provide you with continuous updates and support.

Other solutions include your own company gateway which is very costly and requires man hours to maintain.  There are several other drawbacks to this model.  The ramp up cost is very high compared to an XSpam type solution.  First off you need to acquire the servers, have them setup and configured.  A skilled technician is needed to maintain and monitor the gateway to make sure it’s running optimally.  Additional costs include software update fees, licensing fees, hardware upgrades and maintenance, and more.

The final solution is a desktop solution with several options available.  These products generally run for about $30-$40 per copy and are required for each computer you own in your organization.  The cost includes one year of updates.  There are several drawbacks to this solution.  The software solution does not prevent the large amount of unnecessary traffic and e-mails that will enter your organization.  This traffic can tax your Internet connection and network where it could otherwise be used for legitimate business function.  Spam e-mails can enter your network and cause havoc including loss of employee time, viruses, e-mail attacks, spyware and unwanted adware from being silently installed on your network computer causing pop-ups and more damage.  Additionally the software requires some of your own computers processing power to work therefore slowing down your system to get its job done.

16.  Can my quarantined e-mails be viewed by others?
Quarantined messages can be viewed by anyone who has access to the e-mail account for the user including the e-mail password.  If you like you can redirect quarantined messages to an administrative e-mail account (e.g. for review by an assistant or administrator).

17.  Does XSpam work with e-mail accounts from non-corporate domains (i.e. Hotmail, EarthLink, MSN, and Yahoo!)?
At this time we do not support large, commercial ISP e-mails including e-mail addresses ending in @aol.com, @earthlink.net, @msn.com, @sbcglobal.net, etc.

18.  How long does it take for XSpam to start working?
As soon as we establish your account DNS changes will be made to your domain name account with you hosting agency and changes will reflect in 24-48 hours.  At that point all name servers around the world will recognize the changes and all mail destined for your e-mail server will arrive at our datacenters for a few hundredths of a second for review.  Of course at that point your service is active.

19.  How does XSpam know what e-mails to let into my Inbox?
XSpam uses a patented technology to scan e-mails for thousands of patterns, keywords, and other criteria which it uses to identify spam.  Heuristics closely scans e-mails for known patterns displayed by spammers e-mails.  Viruses are quarantined using enterprise level virus scanners and network attacks are blocked.

20.  What if I have more than one e-mail account?
Sign up as many e-mails as required.  You can even sign up multiple domain names for protection by XSpam.
